Ben had stage2 melanoma, Which is now been upgraded to stage 3C, No annual leave or sick pay as new job, rent to pay and a 11 y/o daughter
Canterbury
My Friend Ben was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma, Which has been upgraded to stage 3C thanks the cancer spreading. He has recently moved back to New Zealand from Australia, Therefore having no annual leave or sick leave to cover his time off work.
He is having to take significant time off work for treatment which is ongoing. The cost of rent/food/taxi's and raising a daughter isn't going to be affordable therefore i have made this page to help a brother out. I will update more as i hear more, I really want to help him relieve some financial stress so he can focus on what he's going through, and also being there as much as he can for his daughter.
Ben and his oncologist have decided the best movment forward is a clinical trial, as he is . If he has the treatment it means that he may not have to have the operation. As an operation will leave him with a life time of lymphedema and other complications. When he starts treatment, they will periodically scan him for tumour growth. If so, treatment stops and straight into surgery.
He had the original tumour on his arm removed, And a 6mm tumor removed when they did the lymph node biopsy. ( stage 2 ) , Now it is stage 3C.
Any donation would be kindly appreciated in helping his cause
