Bike'vember is a month long campaign about pledging to commit to 30 days of people-powered travel in the Upper Clutha.
Otago
Bike'vember is all about making the bicycle your main mode of transport during the 30 days of November. Riders can pledge to ride for 30 days, helping to instil a fun and healthy new habit, rejuvenating cycling for transport in our region, while raising funds to improve access to an important and much used commuter/recreation bridge.
AN ACCESS RAMP FOR THE HAWEA RIVER BRIDGE
All the funds raised (through sponsoring riders through Givealittle, or donations and from partners) will go towards adding a bicycle, pram and wheelchair friendly access ramp onto the Hawea River swing bridge.
The design for the bridge, by architect Sarah Scott, has already been given the backing and approval of DOC and QLDC. This will make the bridge accessible to many more commuters and recreational users – no more difficult dragging heavy bikes, trailers, trikes and prams up and down steep steps.
A big win for all kinds of track users!
The project will be co-ordinated by the Upper Clutha Tracks Trust.
