Get Billy Thomas Global! - SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company (YSC) 2019

Billy, my 17 year old son, from Westport, NZ has had the great pleasure to be accepted for the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company. Chosen from over 5000 of NZ's best young performers. Billy is the first student ever, to be selected from the West Coast/ Buller over the 21 years SGCNZ YSC has been active.

In July 2019, Billy will join 23 other young performers from all over NZ, and together as YSC will perform at The Globe Theatre, England. However, there are many other things this 19 day trip offers, aside from performing. Billy will attend workshops, talks and Q&A sessions about the plays with influential actors and directors, behind the scene tours of the Globe, Rose, and National Theatre, watch performances and rehearse at the Globe. They will also do many things throughout London and Stratford-upon-Avon.

From this program Billy will gain invaluable skills that he will be able to take with him into future years. Apart from gaining obvious acting skills, it will heavily help him develop important life skills such as self-management, leadership, independence and the ability to communicate and work with other people. The repercussions and lessons learnt from this will continue with him well into the future, and from this he can help others around him, and the community he lives in.

This is an amazing accomplishment and I and his family are beyond proud, However, he may not be able to make it without the help of YOU. This massive oppurtunity also comes with a massive price-tag, to the tune of $9000. This is perhaps the biggest obstacle as we are not the "best off" family financially, Normally I would never enclose such details, But ahh a Mums love for her son has such powers, lol. Therefore, any donation or help will be greatly appreciated. Anything to help get Billy to the globe, to pursue his dreams. If you could go without your morning coffee stop even once and chip in it would be greatly appreciated... I know I'll be going without a few, myself. lol. If everyone in our town donated as little as $1 that would put Billy 2/3's of the way there, So please, any help is accepted!
