Bird lady of Rothesay Bay
Sylvia Durrant, also known as the Bird Lady of Rothesay Bay has been helping injured and lost birds for over 20 years.
Each year Sylvia helps over 4000 birds, including several hundred ducklings and 70 penguins. She has a huge heart and I believe is largely unfunded. Recently through the Neighbourly group, we are aware her gate is in need of replacement and several Neighbours have said they will donate to the cost. Any surplus funds will be donated to Sylvia to help with her fantastic work.
Jan Mottram's involvement (page creator)
I'm involved because of part of the neighbourly group and believe we are lucky to have Sylvia in our neighbourhood and want to help out.
Popped in to give Sylvia the final cheque of $334.79 for donations to her Givealittle page (now closed). Delighted to see she's in fine form, feeling much better and has a new passion (or revived one from many years ago) - Monarch Butterflies! She's converted one of the aviaries and is planning to breed Monarchs so needs Swan Plants - preferably with eggs on them. If anyone can help, please drop them around to her at 13 Montgomery Ave, Rothesay Bay. Thanks Jan
