Community-voted crowdfunding for New Lynn teens' secular hangout, D&D gaming, community giveback and kaupapa needs – no church, no parties!
New Lynn, Auckland
Rangatahi reported: "No space that isn't church youth group or parties."
That's the gap BlackoutNZ wants to fill at New Lynn Community Centre – Whau's accessible hub for all ages. Our inclusive and non-religious Youth Club will run on the usual 'party days', bi-weekly D&D nights (3-5 kids/table, volunteer DMs building strategy + empathy), and quarterly discos for community vibes and to raise funds for community outreach. Inclusive, trauma-informed, empathitic and empowering spaces led by a few locals who want to see our kids thrive.
How community crowdfunding works: Teens debate + vote on whiteboard – funds go where Whau needs it most:
Youth gear (games, tables, D&D supplies)
Kaumātua koha for future cultural workshops
Local whānau/school support (e.g., family aid, playground upgrades)
Programme rent + fruit platters ($16K/year goal)
Join the mana movement:
$1 rents chairs for rangatahi debaters
$5 empowers youth to drive community change
$10 feeds a D&D table (fruit platters)
No personal stories shared – collective pot, full transparency via monthly Givealittle reports + koha baskets.
Kia kaha Whau tamariki! Your gift builds safe, secular spaces where rangatahi thrive, make change, and lead their future. Donate now – be the whānau they need.
I will be the on-site coordinator for BlackoutNZ kaupapa, running pilot events with Whau rangatahi
Rent + fruit platters for D&D (bi-weekly), Youth Club (weekly), discos (quarterly) at New Lynn Centre. If under target: Prioritise youth equipment, kaumātua koha, local whānau/school aid via teen whiteboard votes. Transparent reports monthly.
