Blind writer/programmer needs a Braille display to read, write, and code.
Auckland
I'm Miranda, a blind aspiring fiction writer, former coder and data scientist. I am transitioning to Braille for information access due to severe aural hypersensitivity. To write and read effectively as a blind individual with limited tolerance for sound, I urgently need a refreshable Braille display—a costly necessity. Unfortunately, this essential tool is not covered by government funding or Blind Low Vision NZ, as fiction writing is not considered employment, and without equipment, I cannot get back to coding. Despite these challenges, I have taken the initiative to learn Braille online, without any physical materials, and I am determined to reconnect with the written word through my fingertips. Your support can make a profound difference. Please help me achieve my dream of writing again!
All funds will be used to purchase a refreshable Braille display. If I do not raise enough for the machine outright, I’ll use it either to save for a machine, or to pay for people to emboss/produce physical Braille books from electronic sources for me.
Thank you so much!
