It has been a month since Brady underwent surgery that would save his life. For this final update I am happy to report that he has made a full recovery and is pretty much back to being his old self.

At a time when we were starting to run out of funds, and with no clear end in sight, starting this page gave us the courage to continue with Brady's care. We are so glad we did and would like to say thank you to everyone who contributed. We could not have done it without you.

Firstly, I should start by explaining the accompanying picture. Corgis love lying on their backs. Not sure why but they do. Understandably Brady has been either unable or unwilling to do since undergoing the operation.

This changed on Wednesday when he finally managed to roll over and lie on his back. Another clear sign that he is feeling more comfortable and that his recovery and continues to recover nicely.

The picture also clearly shows his scar from the operation. As you can see it runs almost the entire length of his abdomen and is healing well.

As of today we have reached almost 70% of our target. Thank you to everyone who has helped us to get this far. With only five days to go it is unlikely we will reach 100% of our goal; as I have posted and shared wherever I felt the message was relevant and would resonate with people. If any of you are able to share further within your own networks that would be appreciated.

You have all made a tremendous difference. Thank you.

Brady had his staples out on Friday (fourteen of them!) and is well on his way to making a full recovery. His smile has returned, his smell has returned (I might be weird but I love the way dogs smell, it is possibly one of the most comforting things in the world), his walks are getting longer... In fact he looks healthier than ever.

We are so happy that we had the opportunity to save him. Thank you so much to all of you for your support, it is humbly appreciated.

However, we are still some way from the amount we need so any assistance would be gratefully appreciated (sharingwith friends or social media groups is really helpful).

This photo was taken earlier today. Thank you once again.

As per the previous update I have adjusted the target to reflect what we now expect the shortfall to be.

  • What a difference a day makes!

      8 January 2021

After yesterday morning's update from the vet we were still very unsure as to how Brady's recovery would progress, if anything we felt more down than the day before. The change of care to the Internal Medicine Specialist team brought renewed optimism though.

Today we received a call saying Brady had just eaten his first meal by mouth and they wanted to discharge him and see how he progressed at home. So our little man is home! His pain is still being managed with Fentanyl and he is on a number of other medicines for nausea and gut motility, but as long as there are no further complications we should be on the home stretch. As a result I have adjusted the target to reflect this and what we now expect the shortfall to be.

  • Week 1 update

      7 January 2021

It was one week ago that Brady was rushed to the emergency vet to undergo surgery that would save his life. Today the responsibility for his care also moved from the Emergency Team to the Internal Medicine Team. Hoping that they will bring new insights to Brady's case that will help facilitate his recovery.
