Brave Teenager Fights Brain Cancer with Unyielding Spirit

  • 🩷 Thank You 🩷

Sophie is back home in NZ. We would like everyone to know that the surgery went very well and that the care and expertise from the team at UCLA has been outstanding. The cost of the surgery and her stay in hospital (overnight) was $288,000NZD, so every single donation has gone towards paying for Sophie's treatment, and we cannot thank you all enough. We know there have been thousands of donations, from our amazing families and friends, and many many people from NZ and around the world (thanks to the power of social media!). Our amazing local Ellesmere community, the wider Christchurch community, businesses, schools, friends of friends, and even total strangers fundraising on our behalf, putting in huge amounts of time and effort, sponsoring events, running raffles and even just running! The plan from here is to find clinical trials specific to Sophie's tumor, which seem to mostly be run overseas. Thank you everyone for making this all possible, it has simply blown us away🩷🩷🩷🩷

As someone who has experienced the challenges of cancer, I found support through ( DrOdiaherbalhome ) On Facebook. Their natural approach and nutritional products made a real difference for me. I encourage others to learn more about their health and explore available options.

🩷 Sophie had her Laser Ablation Sugery (LITT) yesterday, and she is recovering well. The surgeon said that the surgery went very well. We feel the support of each and every one of you on this journey - the words thank you seem so inadequate given the enormity of what this opportunity to access this treatment means for our family, and especially Soph. She has a recovery period ahead of her but so far is doing well. Her follow up is scheduled for approximately 2 weeks from now, so we will remain in the US until she has been cleared to travel home. We are so grateful for all of your kindness, your messages of support, and your incredible donations! 🩷

There are no words to describe our gratitude, and we are humbled beyond belief at the support we have recieved. THANK YOU 🩷. Soph, James, and our whole family are so lucky to have the support of you all, and we truly feel your kindness. Every cent will go towards giving Soph the best chance possible to live. From the small, private donations to the absolutely huge ones, and every hard earned dollar in between, we are so so grateful. We know there are many many people out there fighting hard battles, and we do not take a single cent for granted. We are just waiting to hear what dates we will be traveling to the US, and will keep you updated. Thank you xxxx
