Brendon is shaving his head to raise awareness for Endometriosis and funds for Endo Warriors Aotearoa
Bay of Plenty
Brendon has been there for me through it all. From scheduled surgeries, to emergency rooms. From immobilising pain, to very sudden heavy periods. He understands endometriosis better than many.
When discussing what I would do for endometriosis awareness month Brendon volunteered to shave his hair off. Together we decided that any funds raised would go to Endo Warriors Aotearoa, who are an incredible charity who are "dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals with endometriosis, as well as fighting period poverty".
At the end of the day, this isn't about the money. 1 in 10 people that menstruate have endometriosis. Its' as common as diabetes and asthma, but has no government funding in New Zealand. Endometriosis is one of the top ten most painful medical conditions. There is an average 8 year gap between a person first telling their doctor about symptoms and getting an endo diagnosis.
I have personally suffered from endometriosis for seven years, it is a horrific disease. I have documented my struggles through my instagram @endo.uncensored and I am so grateful for the online endo community who are so supportive and open to share advice or their own story.
If you would like to help us reach our goal, thank you in advance for your donation.
The most important thing you can do is share the message. This page or any of my posts, or even make your own! Endometriosis deserves more recognition, funding and needs to be taken seriously.
The shave will happen on Sunday 31st March.
