To raise funds for Dad to tick off some things on his bucket list while he can.
Canterbury
In the space of two weeks our lives have been changed significantly. Our kind and loving Dad that is the rock of our family has been given a terminal diagnosis. To say we have been shocked to our core would be an understatement.
Dad's cancer journey has not been an easy one. From being initially diagnosed with bowel cancer in late 2017 and receiving radiation, chemotherapy and surgery to remove this tumor to discovering it had moved into his liver in September 2019. Dad underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy to shrink the liver tumor.
It seemed like things were on track and a surgery date was booked in. Then Covid-19 swept through. The surgery was cancelled, as it turns out surgery was not to be because the tumor had become unresponsive to treatment. Dad's latest CT scan showed that the liver tumor has grown and that the cancer has spread to his lungs.
There is no cure for Dad. What we have now is precious little time to spend with him as a family and his two young grandchildren (aged three years old and nine months). The best case scenario is we will have several months with Dad, worst case is less than that depending on how things progress.
Many trips in NZ and overseas were planned and cancelled over the past two years, some were meant to celebrate milestones in both Dad and Mum's lives. What we are left with now is trying to do as much as we can to fulfill those plans (as best we can in this environment). If you could donate even just a little bit that money will be used to make precious memories with our family and tick off some things that Dad has always wanted to do once restrictions ease. Anything that isn’t used will be donated to a charity of Dad's choice.
Dad and mum would never ask for help, so we wanted to do something for them and are asking on their behalf. Anything would truly be appreciated.
