We are fundraising to get Briar to Russia and make her dream come true to once again lead a normal life.
Manawatu / Whanganui
My name is Briar and I have Multiple Sclerosis . I am off to Moscow, Russia in October this year to have a Stem Cell transplant, to halt my MS and give me my life back.
I live with my partner Kelvin and dog Bear in Wanganui. I am 43 years old and have lived in Wanganui all my life.
After not being well for a couple of years I was finally diagnosed with Relapsing remitting Multiple Sclerosis. (RRMS) It was a relief to put a name to what was wrong with me. I am currently taking medication daily to slow my MS relapses but I am slowly deteriorating.
I am permanently tired and fatigued and use a walker and crutch to get around as my balance is badly affected.
I have worked at Countdown in Wanganui for 27 years and love my job. My workmates have become like family and have been understanding, caring and supportive as my MS has progressed. I love serving and catching up with customers on a regular basis.
My wish is to get better, not be so tired and be able to continue working and feel normal again. The cost of my treatment is $95,000 which will cover the hospital treatment, flights and accommodation for my caregiver.
I have had contact with two other people with MS who have had the Stem Cell Transplant and they are leading normal lives once again – that would be a dream come true for me.
Please help me get better. It is very hard to put myself 'out there' and ask for money but I need help in getting to Russia.
My date for admission is 15 October and I thank each and every person who is able to help me on my journey.
Love Briar xx
My Mum, Dad and partner Kelvin and all our families have been fully supportive of me throughout the last few difficult years
I am Briar's Dad, my wish and the wish of all our family is that Briar gets better and to make her dream come true of leading a normal life once again.
