To cover construction costs of a new footbridge for a rural community in Uganda
International
Would you cross a tree truck over a river to get to work?
Sadly, many people living in rural locations in Uganda do not have an alternative access/safe access to critical resources like health care, education, and employment due to an impassable river. That’s why I have joined a team of 10 Engineers who in partnership with Bridges to Prosperity are heading to Uganda to construct a suspended bridge that will connect communities. Our group will fly out to Uganda in August for two weeks to construct the bridge along with B2P staff and most importantly volunteers from the local community. As engineers we will use our knowledge and experience to help local staff and volunteers prepare construction plans, organise construction logistics provide vital health and safety support and manage the project as well as getting our hands dirty during the construction itself.
Bridges to Prosperity are a non-profit organisation that envisage a world where poverty caused by rural isolation no longer exists. Last year, the B2P industry partners built 20 bridges that serve over 50, 000 community members. In building those 20 bridges, the organisation has now reached over one million people. Over one million people have access to opportunity they can count on. With just one bridge we can leverage local talent and resources to strengthen the impact of all services being provided to a rural community.
Thank you and please help us spread the word!
