Bring back Flight to where it belongs - at home with all the other birds that live at the estuary.
Christchurch, Canterbury
To honour local sculptor LLew Summers, the community spent two years fundraising to purchase his last large bronze work "Flight". It was placed beside the Avon Heathcote estuary edge on the main road, and quickly became a feature that brought pleasure to the thousands of people who passed it every day. Sadly it was recently stolen and cut up for scrap. We are keen to recast it in concrete so that it can continue to keep the memory of Llew alive and be valued and enjoyed by all.
I am a member of the Mt Pleasant community that initiated the project to place a memorial to our beloved local, Llew Summers.
The money will be spent on creating a new mould and casting the sculpture in concrete.
Thank you Robyn Flight is on it's way home!!
