We are a group of 5 young doctors about to embark on a crazy ride across India - the 2018 Rickshaw Run!
A brief rundown of this: from August 11th to 26th, we'll start a 2500km race from Jaisalmer to Cochin in a 7 horsepower cake-tin on wheels otherwise known as a Tuk-Tuk. No set route, only a start date and finish line. Our trusty steed has to take us the length of the country and must cross the line - in any condition.
WHY? Firstly, because it'll be fun. Surely. Assuming we don't die on the way. However, not only is this delightful event a truckload of adventure, but it's also about saving the world.
We're supporting two charities:
First, the offical Rickshaw Run charity: Cool Earth. https://www.coolearth.org/
Half of the world’s rainforest has been destroyed in the last 40 years.
Cool Earth is an environmental charity who work partnership with indigenous/local communities. They protect rainforest that, if nothing was done, would be destroyed within the next 18 months. These locals stand to lose the most from deforestation, but have the most to gain from its protection. Ergo, they're the forest’s best guardians.
India is home to a third of the world’s poorest people, and climate change is hitting them hard. There are unprecedented heat waves, cyclones and floods are which are displacing thousands of families. And it's getting worse.
As for our second charity, we thought long and hard. Being in the health profession we were inundated by ideas, but have unanimously decided on on the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Let's face it - our ladies are important and we want them to know we've got their backs (and their fronts!).
Breast cancer is the number one malignancy in women. Any one gal has a one in NINE lifetime risk of getting breast cancer, and eight women are diagnosed each day. It accounts for more than 600 deaths in NZ each year. The NZ Breast Cancer Foundation's vision is for ZERO deaths from breast cancer - which we think is achievable!
We're aiming to raise $5000 - half to each charity.
So please -
Support us on our crazy adventure, and donate to our mission to help save the rainforest, and to help save the kiwi ladies!
Leave your name and a message in your donation, and you'll be featured on a designated rickshaw!

Rickshaw Run has begun! 15 August 2018
Thank you so so much to all our donors. We are amazed to meet our goal, we’re so happy to have had so many people supporting us on this adventure!
However - the race has only just begun. And so we’re pushing the limits and aiming even higher!
We started the race on 13th August in a place in the northwest of India called Jaisalmer. So cool to see our design in the flesh!!
We’ve driven 530kms over the last 2 days in our little cake-tins and we’re having a blast. A few breakdowns, more than a few camels, tons of cows, heaps of chai, lots of dogs, and an absolute truckload of fun.
Please follow our Instagram page bra.boys.rickshaw.run if you want to watch our adventure unfold over the next 2 weeks!
We have written the names of all donors on the side of our tuktuks - you’re all there with us!!
Thanks again, we’re so grateful!
