The hardest post I’ve ever had to write 💔

Dan passed away yesterday at 251pm, one day after his 37th birthday.

He is now resting in peace, after the past 7 months of suffering - which he did with so much strength, humour and calmness.

He will forever be in my heart & live on in his his two amazing children - the greatest gift he could have ever given me.

Thank you for loving me Dan, thank you for being my best friend, travel buddy, food tasting buddy, lover, over the past 7 years.

Thank you for being the best Daddy to our kids, I will make you proud ❤️

You will always have a piece of my heart and forever be in our memories 💕

    I love you Dan.

    Rest in peace.

    19/6/86- 20/6/23

One last thank you to you all for you donations, love and support these past 7 months. While we didn’t get to go back to the UK or get Dan to Mexico, rest assured these funds will be used wisely for Dans farewell from this earth, for me to take the kids to England to farewell him there and to figure out this new life I now have to live as a solo mum of two under 5. I don’t take lightly any of this and I thank you for being here with us through the most horrific time of my life that is entering a new phase, which for now, is just as painful.

    Sarah ❤️🙏

I'm so sorry for your loss. He is no longer in pain. I'm sure he wouldn't have left you all unless he absolutely had to. Just like my Dad 2 years ago yesterday. Hospice are amazing. I hope you had a good experience with them (as good as it can be at a horrible time). You have the best of him in your little ones. Its going to be a bit of a roller coaster from now on. Take it a day at a time. <3

Hi Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear about Dan passing away. Your story has touched our hearts and so many others as we all rooted for him to be able to make the trip and get the treatment. Now we are devastated for you. We pray for peace and comfort for your family at this time 💗🙏

  • Update - We still need your help

After just 4 days home, we are devastated to make the decision for Dan to go back into Hospice care due to ongoing pain and complications with his Cancer.

To say I am gutted is an understatement.

While I juggle the kids, the house, and going in to see Dan an ensure he has what he needs and just to BE with him, I need to be vulnerable and ask for your continuous help and support because I simply cannot do this all alone.

However, and whenever you can help in the form of groceries, food, childcare, playdates, donations to our Give a Little, doing the lawns, housework, or meeting me for a coffee so I feel normal - it all helps IMMENSLEY.

Please continue to also share our story via our give a little, contact me if you have any media contacts or know anyone with a big social media following that is open to sharing our story as we have continuos ongoing costs to try Heal Dan and get him strong enough to go to Mexico - as well as the everyday costs of our little Family.

Thank you again for your ongoing love and support <3

    Sarah, Dan, Dylan and Alyssa

  • **IMPORTANT UPDATE PLEASE READ**

      25 April 2023

Hi Everyone, The past month has been very hard, Dan had his ileostomy, then had to have another surgery to put in a stent to allow his liver bile duct to drain as the tumor is blocking his bile duct. Dan then returned home & got subsequently worse, I brought him back into hospital, where it was discovered he had developed Sepsis from the bile duct procedure. He is currently in hospital recovering from Sepsis & it has been a harrowing few days as he was extremely unwell. He is showing signs of improvement from the infection, which we hope continue.

We are having to cancel the trip to the UK as Dan is unable to fly right now and we need that money for our next goal.

Dan is unable to have any surgery to remove any cancer due to the spread and is unable to have chemo or radiation due to his weakened state.

Our only option to keep him alive and try to heal his body of cancer is a Holistic and Alternative approach.

Our next goal is to raise $90,000 to get Dan to Hope 4 Cancer in Mexico. A clinic that specializes in alternative and Holistic Cancer Treatment. It is not cheap and we desperately need your help for this last ditch effort for our kids to continue to have a Father.

Our aim is to get Dan strong enough to fly to Mexico then go there for treatment and continue when he gets back.

Please please donate what you can, when you can and share this far and wide with your communities.

If anyone has any contacts for National media please reach out as we HAVE to try everything we can since the medical system is unable to help with his Cancer and we have to fund this all ourselves.

It breaks my heart that we have to push so hard to even raise money to have a chance at getting treatment for him.

Thank you so much for all your support so far, and I hope we can together reach this new goal and give Dan the best chance of becoming cancer free.

Sarah, Dan, Alyssa and Dylan xx

  • CANCER UPDATE - PLEASE READ!

    CANCER UPDATE - PLEASE READ!

Hi everyone, I wanted to update you all as the past few weeks have been very challenging.

A routine MRI 3 weeks ago revealed a blockage in Dans bowel, and that same day Dan had to have Ileostomy surgery and now has a stoma. He has been recovering from this major surgery the past few weeks, but last week turned Yellow (jaundice) and was experiencing excruciating pain. He went back into hospital Sunday, basically his tumor is blocking a bile duct in his liver, which cannot drain properly. He is now waiting to have another procedure (PTC) for the liver to be able to drain. We are unsure if this will help the pain he is experiencing, as the Drs seem to think it is related to the Peritoneal disease, which nothing can be done about - which f**king guts me.

We need your help and support. Please donate what you can when you can, as WINZ are only covering our rent, power & food, everything else, including any holistic treatments, appointments etc are being funded directly from your generous donations, which we are immensely grateful for. Please share our Give a Little with your friends and Family - https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/brummie-dans-cancer-support

While I am at max capacity mental load wise, I do appreciate your messages of support (I may not always be able to reply please don't take this personally), and of course if you are able to support in person, whether cleaning, playdates with kids etc please do.

If any of Dan's friends and Family are able to come visit him in NZ, I know he would love that.

Thank you for being here for us on the most difficult journey we have ever had to face.

Sarah, Dan, Alyssa and Dylan xx

  • Please Help!

Hi Everyone, I know it has been some time since our last update, we have been really focusing on Dan & his health. The Hospital Oncologist has told us Dan has 3-6 Months and there is nothing they can do. We are not accepting this and HAVE to take matters into our own hands to do EVERYTHING we can to heal Dans body of Cancer, so he can live a long, healthy life with me and our two young kids. Unfortunately NOTHING is funded & this is where we REALLY need your support. If you are in a position to donate please do - whatever you can. If you can please share our Give a little and story with your friends & family, please do. If you can help physically/practically in anyway please do contact me (Sarah) directly.

Thank you SO much for all your support & love so far, it TRULY helps, this is a long-term journey for us for the foreseeable future & we REALLY need all the financial & practical support we can get. Thank you, Sarah, Dan, Alyssa & Dylan x

  • Update - let's get Dan back to the UK!

      12 January 2023
    Posted by: Sarah Noble

Hi everyone, just wanted to update you all.

Dan had a laparoscopy before Christmas and this revealed the extent of the spread on his peritoneum, with these results he has been declined surgery until he can reduce this.

We are working on this, but have no idea how long it will take.

Our focus is on finding the right holistic health lifestyle for Dan and funds are also needed to get him back home to the UK this winter to see his Family and Friends.

To do this, we absolutely need your help in the form of any donations you are able to contribute and in sharing our give a little page with your friends and family.

We truly appreciate you all and we could not do this without you. Thank you, Sarah x

  • Update - Full Diagnosis

      16 December 2022
    Posted by: Sarah Noble

Hi Everyone, today we have finally received a full diagnosis for Dan:

Metastatic Cecal Adenocarcinoma with Peritoneal Disease.

Basically Stage 4 Bowel Cancer which has spread to his peritonneum. The Cancer is present in his Peritoneum - he is having a laparoscopy Tuesday morning (key hole surgery with a camera) to see exactly where the Cancer is on his peritoneum - the outcome of this will dictate whether they suggest surgery or not. So, while we have a full diagnosis, we are still waiting to see if surgery is possible and what type, as the Dr indicated if they can't remove all the cancerous nodules on his peritneum they won't offer surgery. It's still unknown if they will remove the Bowel Tumor separately if that's the case.

The Dr has told us this type of Cancer "isn't curable" and is more a hope for the best i.e. surgery and chemo can remove it all, as those are the only two options they offer.

If you know Dan and I we are not taking on what they say, we are not accepting "incurable" or any kind of prognosis and we are going to do everything within our power to either cure or for Dan to live healthy and well with Cancer.

We are extremely grateful the Cancer hasn't spread elsewhere, and want to move forward and focus on Holistic Health for Dan, while he gets some different opinions and decides if he wants to do Chemo, while we wait for surgery options to be put on the table.

We need to have a solid support system around us to focus on what we CAN do, and give this everything we've got.

PLEASE if you haven't donated to our Givealittle, please do, every dollar counts. I ask you again to please share our Givealittle with your communities, and please reach out to me if you can help us out physically in anyway around the house.

    Thank you.

    Sarah x

  • Update - Still Waiting!

      9 December 2022
    Posted by: Sarah Noble

Hi Everyone, once again a massive thank you to all of you for your generous donations, it truly means the world to us.

This is a long-term journey, so please do continue to share the Give a Little and donate when you can.

At this stage we are still waiting on more tests, which Dan is having next week, then hopefully we have a full diagnosis of stage and if/where the Cancer has spread & their recommendations for treatment. In the mean time we are doing everything we can holistically to help Dan.

We see every donation come in and our heart swells a little bigger each time, thank you.

      1 December 2022

Hi Everyone, I wanted to thank you all for your kind donations it really means the world to us. Dan has been in hospital with a lot of pain & more tests. It is looking like his cancer is in an advanced stage and may have spread - we have to wait a few more weeks and do more tests to find out exactly what the situation is and what they will recommend for treatment.

We are devastated and just trying to process everything and figure out how to get Dan the best support while trying to parent our kids.

Please please keep sharing this page and donating when you can because this money is going towards our basic living costs and hospital care for Dan and we need every cent as I need to care for him full time. Thank you. Sarah.
