Help for Bruno's recovery after his Stroke
Sandringham, Auckland
Bruno is a 5year old Labrador which I had since he was 8 weeks old. He was the most mischievous and energetic pup out of his litter and we fell in love with him at first sight.
He has had a healthy life with regular vet checkups and heaps of love and care.
I am a Mom of 3 and a former nurse unable to work for the past 3 years due to my health conditions and children's special needs.
A regular day turned into a nightmare for us on 1st October 2024. Bruno had a FCE which is kind of like a stroke and became instantly paralyzed from half way down his body.
I did not have pet insurance due to funds and have spent all my savings into his treatment upto now. (13k). In order to help him continue we need special aides like a wheelchair for independence and quality of life and also therapy to regain his function so he can prevent infections from not being able to empty his bladder fully. We have to physically express him every few hours or he becomes incontinent.
The vet's told us to euthanize him as they thought he wouldn't recover and his condition was extremally bad. But after one year he is still here today and able to walk independently and recovering at a steady pace. its taken a lot of time, perseverance and effort from him and us. He is doing so well.

To everyone who donated and helped to keep bruno going. ❤️ He did not make it and has passed on. We are extremely upset and grieving his loss. But the Vets advised it was for his best. I pray this situation never happens to anyone else. I wish you all abundance and happiness. I will never forget the kindness you all have shown me and bruno! You gave me hope in humanity again
