Every year, over 1 million people worldwide die due to a lack of access to pacemakers and defibrillators

Meanwhile hundreds of thousands of patients in need have their pacemakers removed.

Those who choose to be cremated when they pass away must have their pacemakers removed. These are typically disposed of.

However, many of these devices may be suitable for use by patients need, particularly in poorer countries where access to life saving devices is limited.

Device implantation rates in low-income countries can be as low as 3 per million.

Whereas New Zealand has an implantation rate of about 446 per million. Based on these rates and mortality and cremation estimates, we believe that New Zealand could potentially provide 1000 devices each year to those who need them.

We partner with My Heart, Your Heart, a central collaborative organisation that collectively evaluates, re-sterilises and distributes pacemakers to low-and middle-income countries around our world.
