'Stellar' comments below from Boh Runga - I asked her the most rewarding, most difficult and top training tip for Kilimanjaro, as she summited this time last year.... ""Wow, you will love it. And good on you for doing this, v cool. Most rewarding is when you reach the top and feel the warmth of the sunrise on your face and the realisation that you made it sinks in. The most difficult was feeling your lungs work harder than they ever had before, so aware of your breathing and everyone else's and with that and the cold ever present, the darkness surrounding you made the feelings of doubt louder. I had the encouragement of the people I climbed with. They were incredible, I hope you have great guides and great people to share the climb with. Top training tip? Kerre McIvor did some altitude training and she gunned the climb. Mmm... walk around with weights strapped onto yr ankles? Seriously, I did that for a month prior while running errands as well as on the exercycle. I did wear denim flares, tho. Have you got some? Recommend!"" thanks Boh ! (PS I last had a pair of denim flares in the 80's) ;->
