  • HUGE thanks to Vic Gundotra at Google

      26 June 2013

We had passed our main goal, but still needed more for parts, so we were in two minds over how to feel. Elated that we could have a girls team, but not overly happy we were unable to get extra parts for both boys and girls teams. Along came Vic Gundotra from google (google him! he's famous!) who donated a whopping $700 and brought us up to and over the top on the fundraising! Super mega thank you to him, he has made a classroom of kids extremely happy, as well as the parent helpers! I have gone out today and celebrated by purchasing 3 sets of hex keys (because we used to share one between 15 people!) to tide us over until the donations get transferred over :) Can't wait until thursday!

  • First goal met!

      11 June 2013

Our first initial goal was to be able to afford a competition kit, this enables us to start a female team. As of today we have hit that goal, and are super ecstatic! From now all donations go into buying extra parts, tools and the like, so we have enough to go around both boys and girls teams. Currently the boys team is a bit over crowded and there are not enough parts so some kids end up sitting out instead of helping. Its small things like being able to have enough parts for everyone to test things, learn that are important too.

  • Liquid Carbon Pathway

      6 June 2013

There are amazing things happening underground important in mitigating climate change, increasing the nutrient density of our food and absorbing nutrients that could otherwise end up polluting our waterways. This video looks at one mechanism, the liquid carbon pathway, created through a plant-fungi symbiosis. This is an example of one of the video clips we'd like to put together with farmer stories.

  • Update for 06/06/2013

      6 June 2013

Went to robotics club today as usual, several times there were kids left out, unable to do much due to lack of parts. I told them about the fundraiser, and how much we had already. Once i broke the news we had over $700 already, they were super excited! I brought my daughter along who was keen to have a look at what was going on, and she is super excited that the teachers are planning an entire female team!
