Can you help us safeguard gender equity in NZ?

    Kia ora,

The last week in New Zealand politics has reminded us of the importance of holding our elected decision-makers to account.

Across the political spectrum, we’ve seen allegations of sexist, racist and misogynist behaviour, and we’re raising our eyebrows at some of the excuses being reached for. “Boys will boys” was the one that, personally, had me yelling at the radio.

Listening to Chris Luxon answer questions about the culture challenge within the National party highlighted just how gendered his thinking is on this and no doubt many other issues of public importance.

Why does this matter to us?

For our team, we’re even more fired up than usual (which is saying something), because with an election coming up in just over a year’s time, we need to know at all times where our decision-makers stand on issues of gender equity and how they’ll vote on important issues.

We want to hold all parties to account for their promises and hear their views on issues that they often shy away from. Issues that women, wāhine, trans, non-binary and intersex people of Aotearoa told us in the YouChoose2020 survey that really matter to them.

Issues like Healthcare reforms. Access to abortion. Honouring Te Tiriti. Childcare support. Family violence. Single parents. The justice system.

We're committed to working tirelessly over the next 12+ months to ensure that we go into the next election with full transparency about who we’re voting for, and where they stand on issues that matter most to us all.

    We need your help.

We’ve run Gender Justice Collective voluntarily for two years and amassed some big wins along the way. Now, as we look to the next year of mahi, we’re asking for your support to help us make an even bigger impact.

Can you help us, today to safeguard gender equity? Sharing the campaign with your friends & networks, joining us on social media and cheering on the mahi all make a HUGE difference. Thank you.

And, thank you to everyone who has championed this cause and supported us so far - we’re so grateful for your assistance.

Mā mua, mā muri, ka oti te mahi.

From the front, from the back, we will get it done.

    Ngā mihi nui,

    Erin, Tania & Ange
