You are making a difference ~ even by giving a little ~ Thank you 🙏

  • Still here and doing ok, thanks to you all

      18 August 2023

Thought we would do a little update to let you all know that Jason has finally got to get his first free funded melanoma medications. Could not have done it without each and everyone of you generous and caring peoples. Jasons, family & friends are eternally grateful. Jason has good days and bad days which is understandable due to the side effects from medication, which then entails more drugs to counteract the symptoms. Catch 22 situation. The daily challenges have become the families new normal. Recent visit to his wonderful Oncologist has given Jason good news from his MRI showing the drugs are still holding the cancer at bay, although sometimes the day to day can be a struggle the whanu is keeping the faith & hope that Jason can enjoy much more time making those special memories. Anyway guys we can not thank you all enough

for your support. nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa 💜

  • Time 🕰 is precious, waste it wisely 💜

      21 July 2023

One time I met a man

Who only had a month to live

And I asked him if he had

Any advice that he could give

He said “I wake each morning

Knowing I am going to die

So each day must remind me

I am blessed to be alive

You see, my life’s on countdown

    As each hour is unfurled

I know the clock is ticking

On my time here in this world

    But what you’re overlooking

Is that it’s the same for you -

You know that I am dying

But forget that you are too

So make the most of sunshine

And go dancing in the rain

    And sing a little louder

    When your favourite music plays

    Notice nature’s colours,

    Savour everything you taste

    Stop waiting for tomorrow

‘Cause you’ve got no time to waste

    And could you say convincingly

    That you’d have no regrets?

If just the next few days or weeks

Were all that you had left?”

And then my breath caught quickly

When he turned to me and asked

“Could you say that you died happy

If this day had been your last?”

    *****

  • Only have a small bucket 🪣 list

      5 July 2023

Don’t get us wrong, we are soooo thankful to have received the Chemo drugs funded finally with much stress and effort but although a huge sum, none has been able to be personally used by Jason & family.

Would be nice if we could raise a few more dollars to help the family directly, so they can enjoy making a few precious memories together.

Time is precious, and we would like to waste it wisely ♥️

Jason is doing well, although there are a few side effects from his medications. His tumours are shrinking, and his back although still very sore from his spinal surgery feels a lot better now especially after all the staples were removed.

Jason just celebrated his 43rd birthday with family & friends which is a huge milestone as there were doubts in January that he would be around long enough to celebrate his day.

We are so hopeful that the treatment continues to shrink/kill the melanoma and he gets to enjoy as much as he can.

Normal life gets in the way, but hoping a few more donations might be able to sprinkle some added sunshine to Jasons family life.

Thanks to each and everyone who has shared, cared & donated. You have given us belief in humanity ♥️

  • Jason’s Spinal Surgery

      3 June 2023

On Thursday 25th May Jason had major spinal surgery taking 5 hours to help strengthen his spine where the cancer has eaten away and made holes in his spine. The surgeon Jonathan Richards placed screws into his spine (6 screws) with 3 of them having what he described as concrete into the screws to support spine.

Unfortunately the remaining 3 screws this couldn’t be done as the bone was too soft. The surgeon said although tricky it was successful in the fact it should hopefully be supportive enough to stop Jason becoming paralysed.

  • Surgery and chemo update

That the chemo is showing great results the tumors are shrinking very well. Jason has to return to Wellington hospital to see the spine specialists as he may need surgery to remove some of the tumors due to them compromising his spine and ability to be mobile .

  • Tumours Shrinking !!! Only $10,000 more to raise !

The treatment is working well for Jason and giving him a quality of life with Kylie and the children. This combination medication Encorafenib/binimetinib is making a remarkable difference to his quality of life and we have notably seen tumours disappear. Jasons oncologist is excited and will get this confirmed with scans in next couple of weeks. Jason still lives in fear not being around for the family in the future and being unable to raise the remaining $10,000 to complete the five months of non-funded cancer treatment.

  • Encorafenib/Binimetinib | Chemo Drug has commenced $10,520 Per Month

      4 March 2023
    Main image

Jason has started his first round of Chemo drugs yesterday!!!! The drug is called Encorafenib/binimetinib. Our very kind mother and father have paid for Jason's first round.

Jason and Kylie and family are so delighted for this opportunity and are feeling very hopeful for these tumours to shrink. If Jason successfully takes to this drug. Jason will require 5 more months of the Encorafenib/binimetinib which is $10,520 per month. After the 5 months of treatment and $52,600.00 the chemo drug Encorafenib/binimetinib is then provided free from the New Zealand health care system.

Your kind donations and generosity is truly appreciated. Let's see this drug make a positive impact to Jasons life expectancy.

    I love you bro xxx

  • URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED NON FUNDED CANCER TREATMENT

      20 February 2023
    Main image

URGENT UPDATE!!!! Non funded treatment needed urgently of Ipilimumab x4 doses which cost $27,000 each treatment . Treatment has been recommended by every specialist to start asap!!!

Jason had to be transferred Wellington Hospital on Thursday 16th Feb to potentially undergo spinal surgery to remove part/some of his tumours to prevent him from being paralysed and lessen pain due to encroachment of spinal nerves.

Unfortunately due to where his tumours are located - the spinal surgery is no longer an option for him.

To give Jason any chance of survival and comfortable rest of his short life with his family the only treatment the specialists have recommended is a drug called Ipilimumab which is not funded by the New Zealand Government. Each dose of Ipilimumab (Jason requires x4 doses) is $27,378 = Total $109,503. This treatment is urgently required for him to have any quality of life in his final months – 1 year expectancy.

    Below from 11.02.23:

Jason 42 years of age has tragically been diagnosed with Terminal Metastatic Melanoma which has gone to his lungs, bones (spine) & brain. Mikes, Jason & Kylie's beautiful son was also sadly diagnosed 5 years ago with an aggressive Cancer of a Brain & Spine tumour called Medulloblastoma which he endured a 9 hour surgery to help remove it.

Jason & Kylies youngest son Edward is 18 months old, for Kylie to be there to support Jason through his treatment the accomodation is not free due to the fact they have a 18th month old baby.
