The Cancer society wants to help build their independence and rebuild their lives and rebuild their confidence and we need your help
Nelson / Tasman
We ask you to lend us your support as we are involved with a new innovating approach to cancer recovery. The Cancer Society have established a new training and rehabilitation programme, to help rebuild and strengthen our members physical and mentally during their journey back to recovery.
Your donations will be used to help fund this programme, this will allow members access to high-level trainers for their own personal sessions along with additional support with information and support groups.
Currently, we are running a pilot program and have seen some great results in our early stages. Everyday 60 New Zealanders will hear the words “I am sorry you have cancer”. With this programme we want to provide a supportive environment to help these people get back on track.
The treatment for this illness can be very hard on the human body and often leaves the patient in a decreased physical state, which makes the everyday task that much harder to manage on their own. This program is the missing link that can help rebuild their independence, rebuild their lives, rebuild their confidence and we need your help to achieve this.
At the Cancer Society, we know how a cancer diagnosis can affect every aspect of your life and we are here to help you through. No one should face cancer alone… with the Cancer Society here, you won’t have to. If you or someone you care about has cancer, if you want to help provide support, or reduce your own risk of cancer – you have come to the right place.
The Cancer Society is establishing and running this new programme for their members to help them improve their physical and psychological state to help improve the quality of life while recovering from cancer and the treatments they are having.
Cancer patients and their families deserve access to the best possible support available. The Cancer Society Nelson Centre is your first point of contact for cancer services.
The Nelson Centre focuses primarily on enhancing patient and family support systems; improving community well-being through health promotion (e.g. SunSmart); providing information and resources for the local medical community and the general public; and networking to improve communication links with other related organisations.
Opening hours 9 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday
The fund will be used to pay for membership for our participants taking part, also to allow our members access to a highly qualified personal trainer to help them on their journey of recovering from their illness.
