Supporting Myanmar earthquake victims

Dunedin, Otago

Mingalabar and Kia Ora,

Myanmar has been struck with a devastating sting 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Friday 28 Mar 2025. This disaster comes at a time when the people of Myanmar are already suffering an immense humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing civil war against its' military dictators.

The crisis has been estimated by the US Geological Survey that death tolls could surpass 10,000. Currently, the reported death toll is about 3000 with potential deaths far greater than what has actually been reported.

Aid into the country is very restricted and controlled by the military junta - meaning that aid will not reach all the impacted civilians in the cities that require assistance.

Therefore, these funds will used to support our people back home through our own independent channels as we know not all aid will be distributed evenly to all our people.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
