Care Packages for Kids with Cancer
Putting together 'Care Packages' for kids with cancer who are spending lengthy amounts of time in Hospital.
CanterburyWe are a group of Year 12 Health Students at Burnside High School are raising money to put together care packages for kids with cancer. These packages will contain things like colouring books, pens/pencils, puzzles, arts and crafts, toys and many more fun things they can do by themselves, with each other or their support people like family or doctors.
The care packages are for kids who are spending long periods of time in the hospital as they can use these to take their mind off all of the treatment and the other added stresses cancer causes. We want to make the hospital experience less daunting and bring them some warmth and happiness during a time where they aren't feeling their best.
We chose to put together care packages for the kids as throughout life almost everyone has an encounter with cancer whether it's personal or through someone else. We also each have personally had to deal with cancer with losing a mother, grandparents and cousins, so this hits home for all of us and we want to help each kid and their family go through this tough time.
This internal is focussed on enhancing wellbeing so we thought that helping kids with cancer would be a great opportunity to do so. We hope by gifting care packages to each child this will result in them having a more positive overall wellbeing.
We would greatly appreciate any donations towards the care packages even if it's just $1. We hope you can help!
Thank you
Meghan, Izzy, Taleisha and Ella.
