Wow, amazed with your progress Carel. You are determined and a fighter.

Carel had his first outing out of the hospital with Marlien today and enjoyed another sweet treat 😋

Thanks again to everyone's support and prayers 🙏 ❤️

The specialist was happy how Carel eats and he was allowed a sweet treat today! Could not eat all of it though, but just give him time! 😀

  • Marlien met the speech therapist today ( 16 Nov )

Marlien met the speech therapist today ( 16 Nov )

Carel has severe damage & it will be a long way before he will possibly be able to speak again.

The part of his brain that concerns social interaction is good. It's the language/comprehension etc part that has a lot of damage.

Therapist gave some things for them to start working on.

Language/comprehension - it will still be there. Someone described it too me like a filing drawer that had been turned upside down and everything was muddled up. Given time and the strategies that the speech therapists give you it will improve. My mother said "the words are there, it's just getting them out". Keep positive.

Carel looks good. He is aware of the people around him. He was even out in the sun a bit. The swelling is also going down. For the next week, unfortunately, there can be no visitors due to a Covid case, so they are strict.
