Persimmon for kindness
Auckland
Carry on kindness
The purpose of this crowd funding was to thank Vereana and John for sharing their precious harvest from their orchard. We are fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, grandparents and grandchildren, women and men, but most importantly we are the member of this beautiful country. This incident taught us not to take people’s kindness for granted without being responsible, respectful and thankful.
On Sunday 5th June, an information about ‘picking persimmon for free’ was widely spread on various chat groups. Lots of people been there on Monday (6th June) to pick persimmons however due to lack of preparations, people who attended this activity failed to equip for the picking. On Tuesday (7th June), Vereana and John the orchard owners discovered over 200 of their black crates and 10 clippers were missing. This is a really sad message as to all of us knowing that their kindness were not been respected. We have also got to know that as the ‘free picking’ message went viral, therefore attracted people from various ethnic groups.
Before we sent this message on Givealittle, there are accountable information sources revealed some of the black crates have been returned to the orchard.
Our target is to raise $2000 dollars to thank Vereana and John for their kindness. If the total fund raised over $2000, $2000 will be given to Vereana and John, the excessed amount will be donated to charity. If Vereana and John refused to accept the fund, all money will go to charities.
As a return to thank Ms. Vereana Wheatley and Mr.John O'Keeffe for their kindness.
message from Vereana and John 8 June 2016
An email was received from Ms. Vereana Wheatley and Mr. John O'Keeffe informing that around 50 crates and 3 clippers were returned to the orchard. They also want to express how grateful they were for all of your generous. Thank you all!
They have also want to donate all the fund we raised to be given to 'Community Fruit Pick Hamilton' which is a community group who is working extremely hard to provide food to food banks, churches, schools etc around the Waikato.
Thank you Vereana and John for your kindness and we are happy to take part in making good causes for the community!
By the way, persimmons in Chinese culture do mean 'good causes'!
Happy FUNdraising everyone!
