We are seeking your support to purchase a second hand remote hearing aid system for Casey to help him to learn in the classroom.
Auckland
Casey is a delightful energy filled young man with great ambitions and a love for life. Every day of his life is a battle for him however, as he suffers with ADHD, anxiety and an auditory disorder which together makes it hard for him to learn. To be afflicted with any one of these issues can be devastating for learning, but the combination creates a real struggle for him to pay attention and learn in the classroom.
Casey's auditory disorder means that he can't focus on the spoken word above other background sounds and this makes following instructions, understanding what he has to do and participating in classroom activities and learning very hard for him.
We recently learned of Casey's auditory processing disorder and an amazing hearing device that the teacher can wear, which will transmit the sound of her voice directly into hearing aids that Casey could wear. It's called a Remote Microphone Hearing Aid System (RMHA) and would in itself make a huge difference for Casey.
Unfortunately Casey's government funding for classroom support was cut earlier this year as there are just too many children with too many needs for the Government to fund them all, and so it falls to Casey's mum and us, his grandparents, to support him and buy the aids that he needs to learn and succeed. We are happy to do this to the best of our ability, but need some help to get there.
We can purchase the RMHA system second hand and get it all set up for Casey and would appreciate any help you could offer.

Caseys first day with his RMHA in the classroom 30 October 2020
Casey was able to experience using the RMHA in the classroom or the first time yesterday. He absolutely loved using it and was able to hear his teacher, participate in group discussion and follow instructions. He was totally exhausted by the end of the day though and could barely even eat ice cream!
