Cash for Kai - New Plymouth Community Foodbank Winter Appeal 2026

$871 of $10,000 goal
Given by 12 generous donors in 5 weeks

Please give what you can today - together we can help keep our community fed, warm and supported this winter.

New Plymouth, Taranaki

As we head into winter and Matariki 2026, many whanau in our community are facing some tough choices, many are having to choose between paying high power bills or putting kai on the table.

At New Plymouth Community Foodbank we are seeing more people needing support then ever before.

No one should have to go to bed hungry. Nutritious food means children can go to bed fed and nourished, families can cope with rising costs and food helps keep people warm through the coldest months. But right now we need your help. Food supplies from our annual food drive have been largely distributed and we need a mid winter top up to keep kai flowing through the cold months ahead.

About us

Our purpose is to ensure all people in New Plymouth have access to food when they need it.

To collect, store and distribute food, essential household items and other resources to people in need within our local community.

Use of funds

Your donation will help:

- fill empty shelves with essential kai

- support whanau facing winter hardship

- ensure food is available during Matariki and beyond

Every dollar turns money in to kai for real people in our community.

The support we’ve received has been amazing.

We’d also like to give a special shout-out to New Plymouth Girls High School, who held a Takitahi Day and have generously donated $1,479.20 to our bank account for our campaign!!!! We are so grateful for your support and the effort that went into making this happen—it means more than we can put into words.

Every contribution, big or small, is helping us move forward, and we couldn’t do this without you all. Let see if we can hit our target!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
