Bay of Plenty

Creative Bay of Plenty wants to ensure a highly creative spring and summer—and we could use your help! Our non-profit organisation believes in the transformational power of arts in public life, education, civic space, and all across our region. We're always looking for ways to support local artists and advance our creative communities. And as public health concerns keep changing the landscape, forcing us all to think differently, our creative powers are more important than ever.

Give a little. Create a lot. Donate here!

Our organisation—in partnership with TECT—has established an easy summer arts mini-grant programme to rapidly fund creative ideas, early 2021 arts initiatives, and cultural celebrations in the Bay of Plenty over the next six months. And you can help! Every dollar raised here will be matched by Creative Bay of Plenty and TECT, then awarded as arts mini-grants to support local artists, organisations, community events, and cultural projects across the Western Bay.

There's no doubt, Covid-19 has forced a rethinking of the old models. Artists and audiences are finding new ways (and ready technology) to connect and share. The usual grant support is not enough, can be too difficult, or may take too long. With your support, we aim to fix that.

As the Bay of Plenty heads into summer, we are working to reactivate our vibrant and resilient community—and ensure an abundance of events, festivals, creative projects, and arts activities for everybody.

Our Western Bay Quick and Easy Arts Mini-grant will open in early December and allow us to respond to more immediate local needs—and actively support the development of summer cultural events. Help us ensure a resilient post-lockdown creative comeback!

Most of 2020 has been about isolation, lessened social interaction, and decreased opportunities for artists and organisations to engage with the public. As 2021 approaches and our public health is confirmed, let's come together and usher in new connectivity, shared cultural celebrations, and creative experiences across our communities.

Make a contribution here to support our new Arts Mini-grants and help us show the world how vibrant and resilient our region can be. Creative Bay of Plenty and TECT will double your gift. And then we will open applications and begin awarding mini-grants to make our summertime much more exciting, expressive, and fun!
