  • Update for 23/10/2013

      23 October 2013

Thank you RG Lewis! - your donation of $75 means we have now reached our donation goal of $500. Thank you to all our donors on this page, as well as all the other people who have and are still supporting Chance on his journey to his forever home. We have asked for this page to be shut down since we have reached our $500 goal, however we will still be maintaining Chance's Facebook page so please continue to follow his progress on that :)

  • Thank You Orijen Pet Food!

      20 October 2013

Chance would like to woof a HUGE BIG THANK YOU to the amazing, kind and thoughtful team at Orijen Petfoods NZ for helping him through his time of need by donating some wonderful, healthy and tasty Orijen dog food. Chance is starting to look and feel amazing, such a far cry from the emaciated figure of a dog that we witnessed when he was first rescued. Behind the Orijen brand lay incredibly noble and caring individuals, and we cant thank you enough for being there for Chance. Team Orijen - you rock!!! xxx

Oh wow, thank you so much everyone who has donated on this site - we only have $105 to go until we have reached our $500 goal! And we have reached it so quickly thanks to people's generosity. Once we get $500 we will be shutting down this donations page, as that is all we want to raise to cover the vet and registration costs for Chance. But, he is still on the sniff for his forever home, so please keep following his journey on his FB page, and we hope to have good news in that department sooner rather than later. He is a beautiful dog, and deserves a wonderful home - someone out there is going to be rewarded for providing that, with a loyal and loving companion :)

WOW! is all we can say - you are all so generous :) We are almost there with our fundraising - we are gob smacked at the generosity of people and amazed that the money has been raised so quickly! Thank you to all our donors and people who have given their time and efforts to help us help Chance on his journey to a new life. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if Chance could speak he would say the same I'm sure :) Also, don't forget to follow Chance on his new FACEBOOK page - https://www.facebook.com/ChanceTheLostDog. We will be updating it with some video footage of him soon! (do you realise how hard it is to get good video footage of animals - by the time we get the camera out, they have usually stopped doing what it was you wanted to video!) :)

      11 October 2013

I (Chris) went and picked up Chance on the 1st of October from the Murupara Pound and brought him back to our place in Tauranga, so he has been with us for just over a week now. As you can see from the photos he was quite skinny when we got him (23kg), and in the last week has put on 2kg. He was registered and microchipped at the Pound (Whakatane District Council) before we left Murupara, and we have had him vet checked, vaccinated and de-sexed here in Tauranga with Holistic Vets. He has 2 abscesses on his face which are being treated with antibiotics and that are healing quite well. Other than those and his weight, he seems very healthy. We think he is about 2 years old. He is a cross-breed, best guess is a cross between Mastiff, Staffy and Lab. He is a medium-large size. In the short time we have had Chance he has proven to be quite docile, he loves being patted, and we just discovered yesterday that he Loves to play fetch! So we gave him his own fetch toy. He is great with our 2 little dogs and has not shown any aggression towards them. He has impeccable food manners, and I have had no problem hand feeding him his pills (in a treat of course!). The money raised by donations on this page is ONLY for the Registration, micro-chipping and 2 vet visits that were essential, and all the money will be given to the people who generously covered the $500 it cost. We have been given 2 big bags of dog biscuits by Orijen, and we will be funding any extra food he needs, so we are not fundraising for that or any other things he may need. Thank you for your interest, and we will be keeping this page updated with his progress until the $500 is raised. You can also follow my Public Facebook Album ""Chance"" - use the direct link on the ""Overview"" tab on this webpage. Oh, and he will be ready to go to his new home in early November when he has finished his meds and has put on weight - so please contact us if you think he may be the family pet you have been looking for. There will be an adoption fee, which will either go towards covering the $500 costs if we don't raise enough, or if we do, then the adoption fee will be donated to an animal charity.
