Charlie and Maddie are off to the World Hip-Hop Championships!

Charlie (12) and Maddie (11) are siblings from the Wairarapa region who have been dancing since they were three years old to prepare for this moment!

They are part of The Company NZ, who are a non-profit Wellington based hip-hop company.

They have been dancing with them for the past year and a half, they previously danced ballet, jazz and contemporary in the Wairarapa.

They are the most dedicated young dancers who train at least four days a week, for a minimum of 11 hours a week, after commuting an hour and a half just to get to their classes. Everything they do is to help them be better dancers, whether that be taking tumbling classes to improve their acrobatics or keeping fit with school sports.

Charlie and Maddie are part of The Recruits, The Company NZ's junior dance crew. As the Wellington junior champions they went to Auckland for the NZ Hip-Hop Champs, where they placed third, earning them a qualification for the worlds.

The World Hip-Hop Dance Championships will be based in Phoenix, Arizona- August 2018. Crews from over 50 countries will be competing for the title as best in the world!

For Charlie and Maddie this will be a huge honour for them to represent their country at what they do best, if they can raise the funds to get there. They need to raise enough for them and their Mum to fly to Phoenix, to stay and train for two weeks, as well as trainers and training venue for when they are there. As The Company NZ is a non-profit dance company each of the 9 girls who qualified need to fund their own way there.
