Support Charlie, a LandSAR volunteer and top bloke, as he tackles recovery after a serious motorbike accident.
Otaki, Wellington
On November 6th, our Charlie was in a serious motorbike accident in Otaki. Charlie was just having a blast doing what he loved, pushing limits and living life to the fullest. It’s been a tough ride since then—Charlie spent six days in an induced coma and has a long road ahead, with many broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. While he’s starting to come around, it’s clear he’s got a battle on his hands, and he won’t be back on his feet for a while.
Charlie’s one of those people who’d do anything for anyone. He’s been part of LandSAR, heading out into the bush to help rescue those in trouble and giving up his time to take kids camping, teaching them skills they can use in the real world. A true outdoorsman, he’s always the first to roll up his sleeves and lend a hand.
Now, Charlie needs us. His future’s a bit up in the air, we don't know the full physical and mental impacts for Charlie, but if anyone’s got the guts to tackle what’s ahead, it’s him. Charlie will need further support when he gets to come home from hospital. His new pup, Cassie, is really missing her best mate. And while Charlie’s strong, it’s going to take time and support to get him back out there doing what he loves.
Whether you know him as a mate, a family member, passed him in the bush, or just as the friendly guy about town - every bit of support counts.
Thanks for standing by Charlie.
Charlie is a valued member of our team, a great mate to us all, a son, a brother and someone who always goes above and beyond for others.
We’re raising donations to give him some financial support while he’s getting back on his feet, so he doesn’t have to worry about money while he’s off work. ACC will provide some financial support.
