The Club Banda Orphans have been without an orphanage since being evicted from their land and home two years ago. Time to build a new one!
Auckland
The 18 kids from Club Banda Orphanage (in Kampala, Uganda), used to have a permanent home. It was a pretty basic place to live but their home nonetheless. They were forced to leave it two years ago when local governement officials evicted them (and thousands of others) from the slum area where they were located - all in the name of redevelopment.
Denis, founder and Director of the organisation, arranged for the kids to be placed in family homes temporarily, until a new home could be secured. However two years on, no compensation money has been offered for the loss of their property. Justice cannot be depended on in Uganda, so we are moving forward and raising money to purchase land, building supplies and labour so that the kids have a permanent home and centre to live, play and learn in.
Since visiting Club Banda Orphanage in 2012 and meeting the kids and the team looking after them, we have felt it is our duty to contine caring for them from afar. A verse in the bible sums up our responsibility: Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:14-17).
Ugandan Orphan Support assists two small-scale orphanages based in Kampala, Uganda.
Funds will be used to purchase and build on land located on the outskirts of Kampala. The plot will be big enough to fit a couple of dormitory rooms and a central meeting room.
Club Banda Orphanage is a registered NGO in Uganda and our organisation has donated to this cause since 2014 without concern. Funds are received and processed by Denis, the Director, who has a proven track record of always providing us with accurate quotes and receipts as proof of purchase.
