Supporting a group of young leaders fundraising, through a biking Challenge spanning from Coast to Coast, for Starfish social services
Waikato
As head students in our school for 2018, Matamata College, we have decided to do a fundraiser to support our local community. Our aim for this fundraiser is to support youth mental health in our community by raising money for our local Starfish organisation. Starfish social services is a community based non-profit organisation that provides a service to struggling youth and their families in the Matamata-Piako District. It was started to fill a need in the community, where the youth had a lack of support and needed a place that provided help and care. Protecting the mental-health of these youth is a big part of Starfish's work.
There are proven benefits of exercise on mental-health and this is what sparked the idea of completing the challenge of biking from Coast to Coast (Raglan to Waihi) to raise awareness and funds for our local starfish, as well as the importance of exercise on mental health. This is over 150km biking that we will complete in just one day on the 19th August 2018. We would love to get support for this fundraiser so we can do our part in supporting our local Starfish organisation and youth. We hope that by doing this, people will see the good Starfish is doing and the positive impact that physical exercise has on the mind and body.
