Matt, Nat, Hunter and Cole Burton are an amazing, kind and positive family from Birkenhead, three weeks ago they received some tough news that four year old Cole has cancer in his kidney and has spread to lungs and lymph nodes, he is now receiving extensive treatment which will continue over the next year.

I have set up a Givealittle page to help support them through this time, their lives have turned upside down and despite both working full time Matt & Nat's main priority is Cole, so we hope raising funds will help relieve some of the pressure of daily life.

Here is Nats message to friends about Cole on Jan, 5th 2015.

"On Christmas Eve the kids were loading pressies in the car to go away to the beach for Christmas... and Cole's shirt lifted in such a way that I noticed a large lump on his tummy. 5 1/2 hours later our world was shattered when we were told it was a large Wilms (presumed) tumor on his right kidney. Unfortunately, the cancer has already spread to his lungs and lymph nodes. However, both the oncology and surgery teams seem very optimistic...so we are trying to be also.

He had a 'magic button' inserted on Boxing Day and started chemo that night. At this stage, the plan is for 6 weeks of chemo to see how the tumors respond, then hopefully surgery to remove the entire kidney...I think there will be around 9 months of chemo and probably radiotherapy too...but we just have to see how things go.

Hi, I'm Richard Hills, I have been friends with Nat and Matt for over 15 years.

They are such amazing parents, kind people and hard workers and so many of us from different parts of their lives and the community love them heaps.

A lot of us who used to work with Matt at the Slipp Inn & Good Home in Birkenhead were wondering how we could help. We thought a Givealittle page may be the best way to make this horrible time a tiny little bit easier for them and for Cole and his older brother Hunter.
