Combat Council Overspending! Beat the Bridge!!

  • Conclsion

      19 December 2021

Thank you to all our contributers and supporters. All funding was used to assit paying for professional, specialist advice or testamony. The remainder of the appeal being funded by the Society. We had our day in court. The Judge and her Commissioner listened attentively, asked some very searching questions and made themselves personally familiar by visiting affected residences to view the potentail visual and privacy impact. We now await her ruling.

Again, thank you for your support.

  • Financial Assistance

      10 September 2021

Our application to the Environmental Legal Assistance Fund has been unsuccessful. The Society was declined in part becauuse:

The Panel consider that although the application may relate to an outstanding natural feature under section 6 of the RMA, the application is not of national or regional

    significance.

    - The Panel note that the issue is primarily local in terms of the scale and significance of potential adverse effects

Our appeal will continue with self representation from a Society Members who is a Lawyer and funded expert witnesses where deemed necessary.

This funding appeal is now more important. Society members are funding the appeal to the best of their abilities but we need the wider Gore District Community's financial support.

    We thank you.

  • Progress to Date.

      11 August 2021

Our Society continues to prepare for the upcoming appeal hearing, and to that end we received financial assistance from within the Society to fund initial legal preparation.

We are helping ourselves but do really need your, the communities, financial support to ensure we can get the case to Court and get the Gore District Council's Resource Consent to construct a 'nice to have' bridge across the Mataura River over turned.

Help us as we try to help the Community.

No donation too big or small.

    Thank you.

Thanks to all for your support to date! The Society members appreciate your assistance which will go along way to calling the Council to account for lack of consultation on projects that will have a significant negative impact on the visual envronment of our rural scenic vista.

Society membership has contirbuted $11000 to date in seeking legal and expert advice ion preparing our case but we van't succeed without wider community help.

    Thanks.

  • Central Government to Take Over 3-Waters Scheme

      5 July 2021

Thank goodness the body that invented 3-Waters is to take ownership of its development and establishment, and the funding! Yes, as tax payers we will pay but we suspect not to the individual cost level as under Local Government.

    Half the battle won!

We still need to have the Resource Consent for the Bridge construction overturned to prevent the possibility that it may be built in the future

Keep sharing and assisting our fund raising for legal fees to help us prevent this monstrosity ever being built!

Come on people, we can do this together! Make our Council accountable.
