A brief update, with more to come...
3 December 2024I have so much to write. Every day I could bring focus to a different topic - including: a retrospective on my journey from the day of diagnosis; the other therapies I have explored and incorporated; healing through releasing suppressed emotions; discipline around mindset; the importance of listening to your intuition; the role and toll on the primary support person; and so much more that I have learnt along this road to healing...and I will in time 'blog' more each of these topics. But for now a simple update on the physical state of 'cryoablated-me'.
During my appointment at the two week post procedure mark, via Zoom, I was assured by Dr Bednarski, that I was healing as normal. I am of course hoping for the same reassurance this coming Tuesday.
The cryoablated tissue can take a long time to return to normal (up to 2 years!), but within 6 months, apparently for women with my size of breast and tissue density, things should resume to look and feel 'as normal'. For the moment I have a necrotic tissue lump, larger than my original tumour, which is hard and sore and prone to becoming bruised. I cannot yet return to my regular runs or bounce on my trampoline. The extensive bruising beyond my breast has healed, but it can be uncomfortable to extend my breast-side arm above my head unless performed gently.
In my next update I will explain the tests that I will be undertaking to determine if the procedure has been a success...
In gratitude to everyone xxx
