Please help the farmers feed their animals & get back on their feet
Eskdale, Hawke's Bay
As you may have heard Cyclone Gabrielle has caused devastation in my home community of Eskdale. The community still has no power or telecommunications, and wont for the foreseeable future, however, I do know that they are supporting each other and sharing resources and most of all leaning on each other.
The people of NZ have been wonderful in donating the basic needs of life eg. Food, water, blankets etc. but I am wanting to help out with what comes after the initial clean up.
My family (John, Olga, Mark, Francess & kids) have been incredibly lucky with no loss of life, house or possessions. However, them like many around them have had their farms decimated; Livestock, fences, animal food, roading etc. all gone.
I am coordinating directly with the children of the parents farms who are affected in the area.
Every night they have a community meeting where they discuss needs, supplies, jobs that need to be done, help needed etc. The supplies will be distributed evenly between the families farms.
Please, if you are in a position to help, all donations will go to my family & surrounding community to help with replacing roads, fence posts, wire, diesel for generators, vehicles & heavy machinery, and most importantly food for the stock.
Any help is greatly appreciated - Thank you!
Daughter, Sister, Neighbour, & Friend.
Diesel for generators to keep fridge & freezers running; Diesel & petrol for heavy machinery to clear and rebuild roads and farm tracks, fence posts, fencing wire, tools for the rebuild, and most importantly, food for the stock (sheep, cattle, deer & pigs)
Thank you! 28 June 2023
Thank you everyone for your generous donations. The funds have gone a long way in helping our little community get back on their feet and relieve some pressure they are facing.
