It is always positive to get encouraging feedback from others...

"Hang Out is a practical, common-sense approach to a common problem in schools. It could be easily integrated with other wellbeing initiatives, and supports early intervention to prevent more complex problems developing were they not otherwise addressed."

  • Feedback from parents

      22 March 2018

Today I was approached by a Mother of a new child to Laingholm Primary school. She wanted to express how great she thought the programme was, after her 5 year old told her about it. She said that her daughter now knows and is reassured that all she has to do is find one of the Ambassadors when she has no one to play with. This not only reassures the child, but also the parents who often worry about the social aspect transitioning from Kindy to School.

  • Meeting with the Ministry of Education

      22 March 2018

On Tuesday 20th March, Our Area Manager for primary schools in Auckland met with us at Laingholm Primary to discuss our programme and how they can help up roll it out nationwide. It was great to hear in person how well they thought Taylah had done with the idea, and our development of the project and information so far. It is always great to get recognition from people who can see the benefit of such a program not just short term but long term for our children. On this day when we met, it was also satisfying to see the Hang Out Ambassadors in the school with the vests on. Lunchtime day 1 we had 9 children approach the Hang Out Ambassadors as they had no one to play with.

We are very excited as on Friday 16th March, Taylah won a trip to Premier House in Wellington to have an Easter Egg Hunt with PM Jacinda Ardern. Taylah's nomination was based on Hang Out and she was so excited to hear she had won, despite the trip being right in the middle of her school camp. She was unaware of even being entered, and to top it off not only did she get to speak to Rob and Jeanette in Auckland but also to Steve on the Wellington Breakfast Show. We will post a photo after the event which is happening on 28 March 2018, but are also hoping that the PM will sign a couple of caps for us to auction off!! And hopefully i can put up a sound file too soon...
