The U19 squad took off yesterday, Sunday 27th, and are currently enroute to Lithuania. They were all extremely excited to get going, although not so excited about the 37hrs of travel.

Racing starts on the 6th with Eliza's heat around 9:30pm on the 7th (NZ time).

Only 2 weeks to go until the U19's take off for Europe.

This last weekend was the Parents Weekend when we were invited to RowingNZ and the rowers had some time off and away from camp. We all got a tour of the High Performance Centre; the hot training room where they can crank up the temperature & humidity to mimic a European Summer and the Boat Shed (new boats & boats from Paris '24) were highlights.

On Saturday morning we got to watch squad pieces before taking them out of camp for the night. Seeing Eliza come off the water and clean and put away boats and oars next to Emma Twigg who was doing the same was special.

The 8 gets a new boat for the last 2 weeks, reverse riggers and white hull with a black canvas so it'll perform better in the hot climate.

They should also get their RowingNZ swag - Black rowsuit with the silver fern next week, team photos to follow

Thanks to Dave Mills photography we also got some photos of their squad pieces

  • 3weeks down, 3 to go

      6 July 2025

The U19's are at the half way point of their training camp and if Elizas comments "I don't want this to end" are anything to go by the whole crew is in good shape.

They're putting in big miles in all sorts of weather conditions, getting some study in and binging on Love Island during their down time.

Next weekend is their Winter Series with some racing against the RowingNZ Elites. Suse and I will be up so we'll try and get some photos / videos up.

Thanks again to everyone for your support in helping E get here

  • And she's off...

      13 June 2025

We'll off to Lake Karapiro to begin with

This weekend Eliza and all of the U19 crews assemble at Lake Karapiro for 6 weeks of intense training. At various times throughout the next 6 weeks they'll be training alongside the New Zealand U19 Development Team, the U23's and the Elites, as they all come into and out of their respective camps.

From the brief insight we've had to the camp, we know their 1st row of the day starts at 5:15am, a 'pleasant' 22km through the Waikato winter.

We'll try and get some photos of Eliza, the Mens 8+ and the U19 rowers up but they do have a mini in-house regatta in the middle of July so we'll definitely have photos then.

In the mean time though, please check out the Cashmere High brag video, a recap of their 2024/25 season.

Thanks again to all that have donated, your donations, thoughts & support all mean so much to us and Eliza.

  • No winter break for our U19's

      14 May 2025

While most rowers have hung up their rowsuits for winter, Eliza and the four Christchurch-based rowers in the eight are still putting in the miles, and being chased by geese, on Kerrs Reach several times a week.

In five weeks, she heads off to Lake Karapiro for six weeks of intense training with the whole U19 squad, alongside their training partners, the NZ U23 and Elite teams.

At the end of July, they’ll all take off for Vilnius, Lithuania for the U19 World Cup regatta during the second week of August, which will hopefully be live streamed.

Stay tuned for more updates and thank you so much for your support
