  • Vlog changes are afoot

      6 March 2014

This week the Chrysalis Project vlog will be revised and editing will be much stricter, thanks to important feedback yesterday. Each vlog will be shorten down significantly meaning information will be concise, our goal update and recognition to our contributors has been given a creative tweak. Lastly each vlog will be under three minutes so you viewer at home or 'on the go' aren't taking to much time out of your day to catch up with me. Keep your eyes peeled, talk soon! #ChrysalisProject -Jason.

  • IMPORTANT UPDATE: Goal amount.

      13 February 2014

Hello everyone, This is an important update regarding our current goal, this update is for both future and previous contributors to ensure no one is being misled in anyway. It is my duty give you crystal clear information throughout the course of the project so that we are both on the same page. Due to current circumstances around the total costing of both phases one and two, I have received an updated and cheaper cost for a Brain MRI scan provided by the Auckland Radiology Group. The original goal of $1,500 was an estimate on my part and my GP's however after ringing around for quotes form all reputable establishments, I'm pleased to announced that our goal for the first phase of the Chrysalis Project is being lowered to $1,100 this means that together we are well on our way to meeting our first major goal. Thank you all so much for following my progress. Kindest regards, Jason-Anthony Bryers.

  • FAQ: Quality of Life and addressing the symptoms.

      16 January 2014

Eariler in the week I was asked how stem cell treatment will improve my quality of life. The following post defines what Quality of Life means in the context of the Chrysalis Project and descirbes what the treatment will address. Defining Quality of Life: gIn general, quality of life (QoL or QOL) is the perceived quality of an individual's daily life, that is, an assessment of their well-being or lack thereof. This includes all emotional, social, and physical aspects of the individual's life.h The term equality of lifef in the context of the Chrysalis Project is associated to health care, using this as a venture example. The health-related quality of life is an assessment of how the individualfs well-being is affected over time by Cerebral Palsy. Using earlier versions of healthcare-related measures it becomes easier to comprehend how the body is physically affected. Since the condition is isolated to one side of the body single measurements (symptoms) will be used. For example the angle at which a limb can flex. When the left leg is at a neutral position the angle and foot can only flex upward 2 ? 3 degrees. Aims of the project (detailed): The second aim of the project is using an individual treatment plan of Adult Stem Cell Therapy that will result in an improved quality of life and overall health. This treatment will address the root cause of the problem and all underlying and related factors. In order to better understand the full effects of Congenital Cerebral (Hemiplegia) all isolated measurements will be listed and the following section will be split into two parts: Root problem and underlying factors. Root Problem: Main: Death of neurons on the right hemisphere of the brain causing paralysis to the left side of the body. Underlying Factors: - Strength imbalance: Left side of the body is significantly weaker than its dominate counterpart. - Difficulty with balancing: Only impacts balance on left side. - Fine motor skills such as: Cannot move fingers individually. Difficulty with grasping, pinching, gripping or picking up objects without using right side. - Muscle spasms: Particularly notable in fingers of left hand and occasionally left calf muscle - Stiffness of muscles: Left leg muscles are often tensed - Flexing of the ankle and foot: Minimal movement of the ankle and foot in an upward motion, slightly easier to point foot downward however not much better. - Toes are immobile. - Difficulty with walking (gait): The walking motion when the foot swings inward causing all of the weight to rest on the big toe resulting in a bunion. Further Underlying Factors: - Flatfoot: Arch of the foot is collapsed leaving no support for lower leg (Related to flexing of the ankle/foot, gait). This will be addressed and treated using a biochemical analysis of the foot.

  • How can you help the cause?

      5 January 2014

How can you help? You can help my following my progress and giving your support by sharing this Facebook page and the 'GiveALittle' cause with friends, families, co-workers, anyone you network with. My goal is to get as many people as possible to learn about my cause and condition of Cerebral Palsy, in the hope that this will reach other people like me. Please donate any amount of money as this small goal (part one) is much less in comparison to the treatment cost (part two) which starts an estimated cost of 20k USD onward (depending on the number of stem cell injections needed). A final cost for this treatment will be given once a treatment plan has been completed by the Life Stem Cell Treatment medical team using my MRI brain scan results. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Chrysalis-Project/187978711397171 https://www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/CP_MRIscan
