Crofties Critters Whānau from Marlborough Girls' College are raising funds for I AM HOPE charity through their Stars Community Challenge.
Blenheim, Marlborough
At Marlborough Girls’ College, we are lucky enough to have Stars Peer Mentors that guide us throughout our first year of college. This amazing programme is delivered by the Graeme Dingle Foundation. Each year through the Stars Programme, we do a ‘Stars Community Challenge’ to give back to our community.
This year our Whānau Class plan to raise money and awareness for the I AM HOPE charity by walking, dancing, skipping, three-legged walking (maybe even cartwheeling!) non-stop for 12 hours on a loop of the Taylor River 6am to 6pm! Our goal is to raise $2,000 by the time we have finished our 12-hour challenge.
Crofties Critters "Walk for Hope" will help to support the charity’s work by providing positive attitudinal societal change around mental health throughout New Zealand and help fund private care and counselling for young people stuck in the mud on waiting lists. On every hour of our challenge, we will do a loop being led blindfolded, to recognize those who feel isolated and trapped, with in their own mental struggles.
Can you help us reach our target?
I work for the Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough, and I am employed by to run the Peer Mentoring Programme at MGC
Funds raised will help to support the charity I AM HOPE's work, by helping to provide mental health support throughout New Zealand and help fund private care and counselling for young people stuck in the mud on waiting lists.
Crofties Critters 'Walk for Hope' 29 August 2023
We wanted to send an update to let you all know how much we appreciate all your amazing support for the Crofties Critters 'Walk for Hope'.
With your donations they blew past their target of $2000 and ended up raising $3184, which is just amazing! The Crofties Critters crew plus their supports managed to walk 61 laps of there designated loop, which equates to 67.1km walked in 12 hours!
This was a massive effort from everyone, they are excited to know that their efforts are directly going to help people with mental illness who are stuck in the mud right now. Thank you to I AM HOPE for all that you do to support people when they need it.
