Firstly, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has generously donated and supported us during this difficult time—your kindness is truly appreciated.
The past five weeks have been an emotional whirlwind for our family. Crystal had been home, slowly recovering with Mack and her boys by her side. Unfortunately, on Monday, September 15th, she was urgently called back to Wellington due to potential complications.
After undergoing tests and scans, we received the heartbreaking news that the cancer, which was removed in her first surgery, had returned within just 3 weeks. On Wednesday, Crystal faced a challenging 6-8hour surgery, during which the surgeons discussed potential risks.
After an anxious afternoon waiting for updates, we were finally informed that the surgeons had removed as much of the tumour as possible and that Crystal came through the operation better than her first.
Though the road ahead remains long and uncertain, we are hopeful for her future. Chemo and radiation are set to begin sooner than expected. While there are risks associated with starting these treatments early—such as a lower immune system that may complicate her healing—we hold onto the belief and hope, that things can only get better from here as we navigate through this journey and find peace and normality amongst the chaos.
Thank you all for your continuous love and support during this challenging time.
With love,
Mack, Mason, Tyler, Lisa, Mike, and Chanel
