  • Two Lemons, $500, and a Whole Lot of Determination 🍋🚗

    Well… the lemons have officially left the building. We sold both cars for scrap and only got $500 for the pair. Ouch.

    The mechanic has been paid from our own pockets (not the fundraiser money), and between your amazing donations, the scrap sale, and what we’ve been able to save, we now have $1,685 in the kitty for a reliable replacement car.

    We’ve set up alerts so we can pounce the moment a decent, affordable car comes on the market. But we still need to raise more — and saving is tough when Uber keeps eating the budget.

    If you can, please check between the couch cushions or in that old jacket pocket for spare change. Every little bit gets us closer to safe, reliable wheels. ❤️

  • Good, Bad and Ugly Update

    GOOD: Between this fund-raiser and private donations to my bank account, we are just $15 away from hitting that first $1K. Yah! Thank you so much everyone for helping us get this far!

    BAD: Quote came in to repair the one the mechanic believes is most worth saving. A good thousand more then we were expecting. We've decided to scrap both and go for the something else that the girls will share between them according to need. A little tough going since they live in different cities, but one at least has access to Mum Uber and the bus nearby goes to a stop near where the other one lives should they need the car. Utmost importance is both upgrading their licenses.

    UGLY: Worst case scenario occurred Sunday, the one that works at the hospital on night shift wasnt able to catch an Uber (none available) that night and was followed and frightened by a group. She called me terrified. She is ok, but she is struggling between working to save for a car and paying for Uber to stay safe. Safe is more important of course, but this isn't sustainable. There is no bus she can take this time of the night.

    So that's all for now. We will be working on selling off the two lemons and adding that amount to the eventual purchase of a new car, we are also saving as much as possible also.

    Yes I have tried for finance, but my recent name change means I have no credit rating. Its a .... thing apparently 🤷‍♀️ who knew?
