Peter arrived at his destination Bluff on Thursday 29th January a few days ahead of schedule. At Invercargill he was greeted by 3 local cyclists who accompanied him on the home stretch to Bluff, 1 of whom was a 75 year young diabetic himself. On arrival to Bluff the 3 locals then took him down to the waters edge and threw him into the ocean to officially cap off challenge. Peter then enjoyed a well earned victory cigar which was followed up by a well deserved cold beverage or three. Time for a few days off for Peter, well keep you updated once he is home next week...

So far Peters challenge has raised over $3000 for Diabetes, with more and more generous donations rolling in each day.... Thankyou to those who have donated so far. We will be promoting this challenge and collecting donations up in till 31st March.

The trip from Palmerston North to Masterton went smoothly and just out of Masterton at Mount Bruce he was joined by two local cyclists Karen Blade & Donna Burkhart who escorted him into Town to a warm welcome at Eastwood Motor Group by Diabetes Wairarapa members and their families.

A few days later after a well earned but quick rest stop and catch up with the family it was time to hit the road again for Peter and the Hyundai van. The Masterton to Wellington leg went well and Peter was greatful to be accompanied by some locals along the way. Masterton to Greytown local cyclist Paul Moss tagged along, Carterton to Featherston fellow diabetic and Diabetes Wairarapa member John Lett joined the frey and showed all that at 83 years young hes still got what it takes!, and Featherston to Maymorn Diabetes Wairarapas treasurer Joe Howells guided Peter through the Rimutaka Rail trail. A short trip into Wellington where the interislander ferry awaited ......next destination Picton.

With half of the challenge completed Peter is riding well and in good shape for the south island leg, please LIKE our home page on face book and well keep you up to date with the rest of the challenge @ https://www.facebook.com/diabeteswairarapa
