He's off to Italy!!
Euan has gone through the National Road Series this year and has now been offered a contract with Zappi U23 academy and race team in Imola in Italy for 2024!
An amazing opportunity for him to live, train and race across the European circuit. The costs involved are for his airfares, accommodation and living costs for the year.
If you can help in any way, helping him achieve the most out of this amazing experience. Every little bit helps. Thank you
Its been a while since the last update. Alot has been happening. Euan has been racing well and after the schools and National Road Series, Euan is sitting in the top 10 Nationally and also made it onto the 3rd place podium. He had some big big races coming up over the coming months. Starting this weekend in the Hawkes Bay, ending the season with two races in Invercargill. Yunca and Tour of Southland (adults race. He will only be 4 days over turning 18. So only just old enough to race this category)
There has been some huge news though. Euan has signed a contract for an elite Italian race team called zappi for 2024. He's all confirmed for Italy and will be 100 percent living and racing there all of 2024. Straight out of High School and into a country without a word of the lingo! A brave man, jumping into the deep end to live his dream.
An amazing adventure!
The first week of the school holidays saw Euan and I take a road trip to Cambridge for the North Island Schools Road and Track Champs. Representing Paraparaumu College over 4 days of racing and two disciplines.
The weather for the 2 day road racing event was awful, sleety rain and wind made the course even more challenging. Euan was very happy with his results 9th in the road race and 15th in the Criterium. Day 3 was a day of training at the Velodrome (a discipline Euan had never raced before). Then 2 days of racing. A great experience and if you ever have the chance to visit the Cambridge Velodrome then do, it is an amazing centre.
Again Euan was very happy with the results of this new challange. Competing in a Scratch, Kerrin, Points, Team Pursuit and Team Sprint.
The next event is back to the National Road Series and closer to home in the Manawatu.
Thank you Steven for the amazing donation to purchase new Windspace wheels. This also now allows Euan to have a spare set of wheels when racing. Very generous, thank you, thank you.
An amazing weekend of racing at the NRS in Pukekohe. 5 stages (Hill, Time trial and 3 variations of road), 2 days, 36 U19 riders and 130km of racing and 9th overall! Euan feeling very proud of his efforts and results.
2 weeks and we are off again for the School Series in Cambridge. 4 days of racing over two disciplines (road and track aka velodrome).
Doing amazing!
Very Proud...
