Week 7 ☀️🌼 This week started with our Baby girl losing her hair and when she realized, it freaked her out a little but like everything else she took it like a BOSS 😎 and Ray shaved his head too to help her through this process ☺️ We had a lovely surpise visit from Grandma Marie N Ray Dunn and Daisy was so delighted to see her and show off some of her new moves 😍 Our Daisy girl has really started to shine through this week as she's become more comfortable and confident with everything... eating, sleeping and moving really well... her bloods are looking great and she has come off a lot of medication 🙌 Ray and I took our first trip back home to Whangarei on Thursday so we could spend time with the rest of our babies and catch up with a few friends and family 💛 This came with a lot of emotion though as we headed back to the hospital to face our 'current reality'. We've had many visits this week from our lovely aunties Nanas Moko and Audrey Poutai who Daisy was keen to show her new disco lights to! Followed by Uncle Mete Te Maramatanga Tamihana Tia-Ward and Aunty Booty Toni Mariah Wirihana.

The biggest milestone for our Baby this week was getting outside for the first time in 7 weeks. She loved feeling the warm sun on her face, seeing ducks and throwing sticks 😍

It was a BIG week last week. Our girl completed her first round of chemo, which came with a lot of ups and downs... She started on a high and responded well to the treatment but over the weekend we saw a drop in her appetite, mood and immunity. She began to eat less or nothing at all, she has uncontrollable outbursts of anger and frustration, has developed a few rashes and a slight infection around her line where the chemo is given. But these are all common side effects... The positives are that she hasn't lost her cheeky and stubborn personality, she continues to speak, move, interact and fight this beast more as each day goes by 💛

We also got to have our Boy Vance down with us for a night which was soo lovely 😍 we miss him so so much, this also meant having to say goodbye to him again 😢 but knowing it's school holidays we will be seeing again soon ☺️

It's been a super challenging week for us as we battle through our own emotions that flow from all of this but we are doing our best to communicate our thoughts and feelings to make sure we are supporting eachother as much as possible ☺️ The lack of sleep sneaks up on you quickly and before you know it we find ourselves snapping or crying at the smallest of things.

We miss home, we miss all our babies fur babies, feather babies and the comfort of our own beds 🥺 and need constant reminders that this is not forever!

Thank you whanau for the continuous love, prayers and support 🙏❤️ We love and appreciate you all 💛💛💛💛

Day 23 ☀️🌼 Our Daisy Baby had a HUGE day yesterday! Starting the day with a little play, as she decided to start throwing a ball around 😍 She was also given a new set of wheels that will better cater to her needs 🦼

Our Daisy Baby had an op yesterday where they installed the ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt that drains the excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from her head to her tummy. At the same time they put the double lumen Hickman line in, which is placed into a vein in the chest and ends in a larger vein just above her heart. The Hickman line is used long-term to access her veins to give chemotherapy, intravenous medications, nutrition, and to draw blood without the need to keep 'stabbing' her again.

We were called once she got to the recovery room and as you could imagine she was very unhappy and in a lot of pain 😢 Once we got back to the wards she was given medication to help with pain and agitation. It took a while to settle down but we got there in the end 😊

In terms of operations, the hardest parts are over and we can now focus on her recovery to then be able to start chemotherapy.

In the meantime we continue to shower her with love, prayers and support as we head into the next phase of her journey 🙏 ❤️

As always we are so very grateful for each and every one of you for helping us through this ❤️ We couldn't have done it without you!

2 weeks my baby... 🌼💛 The breathing tube was removed today and as usual you took it like a champ 💪 She got a little infection on her wound where the fluid has been leaking but hopefully with the EVD catheter in and help with a little antibiotics it will sort itself 😊 Its been a really good day with one step closer to getting her on the road to recovery.

I would also like to take the time to let you all know that our Daisy baby's tumor results have come back and it is in fact cancerous. It's known as Central nervous system (CNS) neuroblastoma it's a rare malignant tumor that originates from the neural crest cells within the central nervous system. The biopsy from her surgery has been sent over to the states for them to do more research on it to help us understand what we're dealing with and what treatment is available for our darling! It was a HUGE blow as she is already dealing with so much but it's what we've been dealt with.

We continue to pray for our baby that the LORD above performs his miracles on her and let's her live the wonderful life she deserves 🙏

LOVING YOU ALWAYS BABY GIRL 🌼🌼💛💛

  • Update From Daisys Parents 🌼

      20 March 2024

Day 8 ☀️🌼 After a big rest yesterday our girl has made a lot of progress... her oxygen levels are even better, she's currently receiving 21% and the rest is all her! She will be taken off the ventilator and all going well she will go for a MRI scan tomorrow to give us more clues as to what we are dealing with. The neurosurgeon was really happy with her progress so the ICP has been removed, which was the line they had in her head to measure the pressure on her brain. We are hoping to get the results of her biopsy this week so we can get an understanding of what we're dealing with and a plan moving forward. She's moving a lot more, and is more alert so they are also looking at waking her up some time this week 😍

A massive day of progression my beautiful darling! We are so proud of you! Keep up the amazing work baby girl 💪🧡 WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH OUR DAISY 🌼💛
