Does it bother you that you are raising money for someone who an eminent judge recently concluded "probably" strangled and then shot his brother, and that there appear to have been no material challenges to the soundness of this report from any quarter?
David Bain Compensation Trust
No it doesn't bother me because Judge Ian Binnie, who is respected internationally, said “It is more likely than not that David Bain is factually innocent."
Callinan does not earn the same level of respect. His report was so substandard, David's legal team were going to challenge it in court. That's why he got a payout - to prevent further legal action. The Government paid David out to prevent a very material challenge from being made public - and save themselves from further embarrassment.
Alan asks
Because David has already received almost $1million from the government, surely this begging bowl appeal is being greedy?
And while you are at it please be more truthful with your facts in the website you have written
P/S the Bonnie report was binned - why report it
David Bain Compensation Trust
In 2007, the Privy Council found David was also victim of a miscarriage of justice. In 2009, he was found not guilty. Why report that. Because its true.
Judge Binnie said he should receive compensation. Why report that? Because its true. That's what Binnie said.
Your version of the truth leaves most of the truth out.
Maryanne asks
Hi Roger - Just wondering why the timetable on your website, which I believe came live today, says this givealittle page has just been started today when it appears it has been going for 6 months.
David Bain Compensation Trust
Knowing the Government was unlikely to pay David compensation (which they haven't), I've been preparing this for a while. It takes time to set things up.
