    Givealittle Update 24 March:

David has had the first of his two major EDAS surgeries on Tuesday 22nd March. The procedure was successful and we are so thankful to the surgeons for their incredible skill and care with an intricate procedure. Surgery took 5 hours and we were so relieved to get the phone call that he had woken up. His first word was "Cuddles" which was a fantastic moment as we have had to be with him 24/7 for the last month to monitor him and ensure he was stable enough to even have the operation - so it was our first mission to get him to the surgeons. Phew!

David is currently recovering in the paediatric intensive care ward and will be there for several more days. He has had a very rough few days/nights and is not looking and feeling the best - to say the least! He is now smiling, playing and giving us all instructions which is great to see after all he has been through.

David will be in hospital for awhile for treatment and some more tests before being discharged to recuperate at home and begin physiotherapy and rehab. Then his clinical care team will begin planning his ongoing treatment for the rest of the year.

We want to thank everyone so very much for all your support, love, prayers, chants, kind words/thoughts and good vibes! Your generosity is overwhelming and allows us to focus on the care and recovery of our precious little David. It has helped so much to know that you have been along side us all the way! THANKS.

PS: There is a Woman's Day article about David coming out very soon so look out of that.

Here is a message from Lucy.

Yesterday, for the first time, I was able to access all of the wonderful people who have donated. Stephen and I have been overwhelmed by the love, generosity and encouraging messages that we have received. For me as a teacher at Long Bay College and Avondale College, I have been humbled by the number of current and ex students who have wanted to help. Thank you.

David has been home for just over a week. He is a joy every day and is always singing. His left side is still weak but he is beginning to get small amounts of physiotherapy which is helping. His neurosurgery is still planned for the 22nd March and we are all hoping that he stays strong enough.

Thank you again for all of your love and support.

    Lucy, Stephen and David

    Message from Lucy and Stephen

Thank you so much to everyone for all of your unbelievable kindness and generosity. We have been in such a little bubble of looking after David that sometimes you feel like you are living in someone else's movie that's actually your own. To step out of the bubble and see a tsunami of encouragement, support and thoughts from friends, family and even people who have never met us is wonderful. We can not thank you enough. David gives joy wherever he goes despite all of his struggles medically at the moment. He tells us "it's okay" on a regular basis. We are learning constantly from him and, like this Givealittle page, he teaches us that everyone has such good hearts. It takes some of the worry away. Thank you.

    An update on David:

David is coming home for a couple of weeks before his first surgery at the end of March. He needs to have very quiet rest and play in preparation for getting strong for this surgery.
