  • DE LA SALLE COLLEGE DEBATE TEAM TO NEW YORK UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE

      4 October 2025

Nineteen students from De La Salle College have received a prestigious invitation to attend the 2026 World International Model United Nations (WIMUN) conference in New York City, USA, this coming February.

The invitation comes after the school’s exceptional performance at the 2025 Model United Nations Assembly competition, where De La Salle placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd among over 100 teams from more than 30 schools nationwide. In recognition of their achievements, the United Nations Federation has formally invited the De La Salle Debate Team to participate in the global event.

The team’s success extends beyond the Model UN. In the Auckland Schools Debating competitions, De La Salle qualified in the top eight across Junior Open, Advanced Open, and Senior Open grades, from a pool of 350 teams representing over 40 schools. Most recently, the Junior Debate Team reached the grand finals of the 2025 Debating Junior Championships, competing against 40 teams from 18 schools.

As the competition is in USA, New York, factoring in accommodation, flights, and registration for our team, there is a substantive financial obstacle. We are humbly reaching out for your support/donations in helping make this dream a reality for our students. Any support for our team would be greatly appreciated.

    Mr Otto Wendt

Teacher in charge of debating De La Salle College
